Lunch buckets4/3/2023 Once you peel off the charred layers of the shell, you’ll get plump and juicy flesh complemented by the smoky notes coming from the charcoal- I was instantly teleported to Phuket for a few seconds! Final thoughtsįor someone like me who doesn’t really eat seafood frequently, I thoroughly enjoyed the communal experience of wolfing down buckets of seafood together as a group at Bucketta. We also ordered Grilled River Prawn (S$10 per pc) which had 2 humongous crustaceans that were barbecued with charcoal. The broccoli, potato wedges and corn acted like palate cleansers, allowing me to continue savouring the seafood without feeling overwhelmed. Chewing on the entire thing was quite a mouthful, but a satisfying one nonetheless. The half-shell scallops were gigantic and paired really well with the rich and creamy garlic butter sauce. The crawfish were like shrunken versions of lobsters but full of flavour. I couldn’t resist the opportunity to feed my phone’s gallery with more mouth-watering photos. The sharp contrast between the ivory-hued gravy and bright colours of the seafood and other ingredients made for pictures that popped. It comprised of crawfish, white Manila clams, flower crabs, baby cuttlefish, half-shell scallops, black mussels, corn, potatoes and sausages. We then moved on to our second bucket, the Koh Phi Phi (Crawfish special bucket) (S$178). The cajun sauce that coated the seafood was smoky and gently spiced with hints of paprika and dried rosemary bursting in every bite. ![]() The tiger prawns were plump while the huge squid was surprisingly tender.ĭo you have good food to recommend? There were 4 pieces of Sri Lankan mud crab, tiger prawns, black mussels, half-shell scallops, white clams, squid, sausages, sliced corn on the cob, potato wedges and broccoli. The medley of seafood was presented in a beautiful mess. Wow! Our jaws dropped to the ground as we watched in awe. Our table was laid with paper before the restaurant staff poured out the bucket’s content in front of us. The Koh Pu (Crab Island) (S$258) seafood bucket was presented in a large metal bucket. If raw crabs are not your thing, you should definitely order the Steamed De-shelled Flower Crab (S$49).Īlas, the focal point of my visit finally arrived. I used a spoon and scooped up the decadent orange treasure, and was rewarded with a creamy explosion of umami goodness. The mesmerising orange roe was glistening in full glory for us to admire. We also tried the Marinated Sashimi Crab Roe (S$49) which had the same marinade and garnish. ![]() Just imagine eating sushi enhanced by Thai flavours- super interesting. It melded all the nuances of Thai spices together with Japanese flavours. The next combo was my favourite- seaweed, rice, marinated salmon and the citrusy green chilli dip. Pairing them with the lettuce made it refreshingly light on the palate. The prawn marinade was slightly sweet, almost like a teriyaki glaze, and the red chilli dip was garlicky and packed some heat. I paired a piece of marinated raw prawn with lettuce and added the red chilli dip. I’m an absolute fan of freestyle eating, where you get to have fun while trying out different combinations. It came with a platter consisting of dried seaweed sheets, plain rice and slices of lettuce as well as 2 different kinds of homemade Thai-style sauces. The seafood was soaked in a secret recipe light-brown marinade which differs from those at other establishments that usually use soya-based sauces. There were 5 pieces of raw salmon slices and prawns topped with fresh garlic and chilli padi. ![]() We started our seafood extravaganza with the Salmon & Prawn Marinate (S$30). The menu also features crayfish rolls, Thai à la carte dishes and even a Seafood Bucket Buffet (S$49.90++ per pax for lunch, S$59.90++ per pax for dinner) with free flow sides and drinks. Having seen multiple seafood bucket posts on Instagram, and never having experienced one myself, I was stoked to try it for the very first time that day. They offer 3 varieties of seafood buckets and Thai-inspired marinated raw seafood, served with homemade dips. Are you searching for a place to indulge in a seafood feast with your friends?
